CHARACTER EDUCATION VALUES IN SUNDANESE PUPUH

ABSTRACT
This study aimed to describe character education values in Sudanese Pupuh. Data collection was done by structural analysis of the lyrics of Sundanese pupuh (Wellek & Warren 1995:186). The steps of data analysis were: (1) data comparison; (2) data categorization; (3) data presentation; and (4) inferencing(Miles, Huberman, and Saldana 2014). This study resulted in, firstly, religious values were found in pupuh Mijil, Pungkur, Wirangrong and Jurudemung. Secondly, nationalistic values were discovered in pupuh Dangdanggula, Durma, and Wirangrong. Thirdly, the values of integrity were found in pupuh Pucung, Mijil, and Wirangrong. Fourthly, the values of teamwork were found in pupuh Asmarandana, Sinom, Balakbak, Ladrang, Pucung, Lambang, Gambuh, Gurisa, and Magatru. Lastly, the values of independence werediscovered in pupuh Kinanti, Pucung, Mijil, dan Pangkur.
